Amber Brooks, Principal
Mrs. Amber Brooks is excited to be returning for her third year as principal of Jackie Mae Townsell Elementary. Mrs. Brooks is committed to educating all scholars in a safe, supportive, and acdemically rigorous environment. She prides herself on building relational capacity with students, staff, and the community in an effort to support the whole child. Mrs. Brooks is proud of the academic achievements gained and looks forward to continuing to lead with a passion and purpose for positive change in the lives of children.
Mrs. Brooks graduated from Texas A&M University at Commerce with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in Educational Administration. She is currently working towards earning her doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership from Abilene Christian University. Mrs. Brooks worked in Lancaster ISD, Cedar Hill ISD, and Mansfield ISD prior to coming to Irving ISD. In her educational career, she has served as an elementary and middle school teacher, math instructional specialist, assistant principal, and principal. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family or watching scary movies.
Mrs. Brooks is committed to creating a culture of leadership and excellence. She knows this can only be accomplished when everyone works as a team. Let's go further together and build the brightest futures for our young Timberwolves!!!
Joshua Cassada, Assistant Principal
Joshua Cassada grew up in Chillicothe, Missouri. After a five year enlistment in the United States Marine Corps, he graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in education. Most recently, Mr. Cassada earned a Master of Education degree in educational leadership from Dallas Baptist University. Joshua began working for Irving ISD in 2009. He taught fourth and fifth grade at Thomas Haley Elementary School for seven years. After that, he spent two years as the Special Education Math Academic Specialist (K-12) for Irving ISD. Joshua started working as the Townsell Elementary Assistant Principal in July, 2018.
Jon Huricks, Assistant Principal
Mr. Huricks comes to Townsell Elementary with over 16 years of experience in education, spending the 2020-2021 school year serving as an Administrative Associate in Keller, TX. Mr. Huricks is a graduate from the prestigious Grambling University with a Bachelor’s of Science - Electronics Engineering Technology degree and went on to get his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of North Texas. Mr. Huricks served as a Math teacher for fourth, sixth, and seventh grade students. Mr. Huricks is excited to engage with teachers, students, staff, and parents to help Townsell Elementary have a great and successful school year.
