Administrator Bios

  • Fernando Vadillo, Principal

    Fernando Vadillo, who has worked in education for 13 years, was named principal of Lively Elementary School in 2018.

    “I am very humbled and proud to join such a great district,” says Vadillo. “Society has given us a great responsibility to not only serve our students and parents, but our entire community. I look forward to working with the entire Lively Elementary team to accomplish this and more.”

    Vadillo has worked at Dallas Can Academy in several roles since 2007. Most recently, he served as principal of the academy’s Ross Avenue campus for the last two years. Prior to that, he was an assistant principal of curriculum and instruction, science department chair and science teacher at the Oak Cliff campus.

    Vadillo earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and master’s degrees in biotechnology and business administration, all from the University of Texas at Dallas.

    He also holds principal and secondary science composite certifications. He was selected for the National Institute for Urban School Leaders at Harvard University in 2016.

  • Lydia Saldana, Assistant Principal

    Mrs. Saldana is honored and excited to serve Lively Elementary as Assistant Principal.  Entering her 18th year in education, she has previously served as Academic Specialist and Instructional Technology Specialist at Townsell Elementary and bilingual teacher in various grade levels at Gilbert Elementary.  Prior to joining Irving ISD, Mrs. Saldana served as a bilingual teacher in Dallas ISD for 9 years. 

    As a recent graduate of SMU and Teaching Trust’s Aspiring Leaders Program, Mrs. Saldana embraces the need to build strong and meaningful relationships with all students, teachers and parents.  In her spare time, Mrs. Saldana enjoys traveling with her husband, playing with their dogs, reading and rooting for her favorite home teams in various sports. 

    Mrs. Saldana looks forward to a great 2020-2021 school year!  Go Lively Eagles!

  • Romelia Cubero-Magana, Assistant Principal

     

    Romelia Cubero-Magaña is soaring with joy to serve Lively Elementary as Assistant Principal.  She is an Irving ISD graduate, and this is her 16th year in education.  As an educator, she has taught numerous grade levels, was the K-2 Literacy Specialist at Stipes Elementary, and the Academic Specialist at Lee Elementary. She was also part of Irving ISD’s 2019-2020 LEAP Cohort and has the heart of a servant leader. 

    Mrs. Cubero-Magaña is a passionate educator with a strong commitment to the development, social, and academic growth of all students and believes in nurturing the heart and inspiring the mind of every child, every day.  

    Mrs. Cubero-Magaña looks forward to establishing trust and building relationships with Lively Eagles’ families and community members. She is honored and blessed to be a Lively Eagle!
