Administrator Bios

  •  Angel Rico, Principal 

    Mr. Rico is very pleased to continue to serve as Principal of T.J. Lee Elementary school.  He graduated with a B.A. in Science and Math from the University of Texas at El Paso and a Masters in School Administration from New Mexico State University.

    Mr. Rico's professional teaching endeavors began when he started teaching in 1994.  He taught 6 years as a Kindergarten, 1st and 5th grade teacher in Ysleta Independent School District.  He then served 6 years as an Assistant Principal in McKinney, Texas followed by 8 years as an Assistant Principal in Irving Independent School District.  Mr. Rico has proudly been serving as Principal at T.J. Lee for 4 years and hopes to continue making a positive impact in students’ academic achievements. He looks forward to strong working relationships with families in this neighborhood as we continue to ensure academic excellence for all our T.J. Lee Lions.

    Carla Flores, Assistant Principal

    I was born and raised in Lubbock, TX. where I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech University with a major in Interdisciplinary Studies and a minor in Spanish).  I also hold a Master’s of Educational Administration from the University of North Texas. 

    After graduating from Texas Tech, I worked for Children’s Protective Services in the conservatorship caseworker for 7 years.  In 2000, I moved to the DFW area and began my teaching career in Arlington ISD as a 3rd grade bilingual teacher at Crouch Elementary for 10 years and Bebensee Elementary for 2 years as a bilingual 3rd grade teacher.  After 12 years teaching in grades 3rd – 6th (bilingual, dual language, ESL, multi-age) in Arlington, I moved to the Hurst-Euless-Bedford school district where I taught 6th grade bilingual/ESL for 2 years at Bellaire Elementary. 

    In 2016, I was appointed as the Assistant Principal at Bellaire Elementary where I served for 3 years.  I then served as the Assistant Principal at Lakewood Elementary for 3 years. 

    In 2020, I joined Irving ISD as a 5th grade bilingual teacher at Johnston Elementary.  After 1 year I was appointed as the Administrative Liaison at Lamar Middle School. 

    I have now joined the TJ Lions Fam-I-Lee as an Assistant Principal and am anxious and excited to partner with the staff, faculty and community to continue to have a positive impact on all of our students.

    Yolanda Williams, Assistant Principal

    Mrs. Yolanda Williams grew up in East Texas where she received an Associate of Arts degree  from Tyler Junior College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (with minors in English and Reading) from Stephen F. Austin State University. She also holds a Master’s of Education Administration from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.

    Yolanda began her career in education teaching 3rd graders at John F. Kennedy Elementary in Terrell ISD. Mrs. Williams transitioned to Irving ISD and joined the J.O. Davis family where she taught learners in grades 3- 5-general education, gifted/talented, multi-age,  and ESL for 14 years.  During that time, Mrs. Williams also enjoyed opportunities to serve as a district trainer for  various initiatives in Irving ISD, Summer School administrator, being a part of the district's Curriculum Writing Team, as well as the blessing of being named Teacher of the Year.

    Mrs. Williams joined Coppell ISD and enjoyed 3 years learning and growing professionally as a Digital Learning Coach. She returned to Irving ISD where she served for 4 years as an Academic Specialist at A.S. Johnston Elementary and as  a district curriculum writer for ELAR and Science. 

    Mrs. Williams now joins the TJ Lee Lions as an Assistant Principal, where she’s excited to partner with staff, faculty, families, and the community to impact teaching and learning. 

    She has seen each experience as a blessing and opportunity for growth. Mrs. Williams has a passion for the PLC culture which supports a focus on learning, culture of collaboration, results orientation, and a growth mindset.
